Abstract

The article discusses the author's view on the religious aspect of books written by Marguerite Porete. It explores Porete's paradoxical relationships with scripture and her personality as an accomplished poetic author based on scholarly speculation. It notes that the author's engagement in biblical exegesis as a form of dissent. It also presents criticism of the book "The Mind's Eye: Art and Theological Argument in the Middle Ages" by Jeffrey Hamburger and Anne-Marie Bouché.
