Volume 3, Issue 1 (2017)

For this issue we are particularly trying to heighten awareness regarding relevant modern topics in bioethics. As an editorial board we agree on the importance of bioethics in the context of science and society. However, we also felt that this academic area can be intimidating or inaccessible to some. Because of this, we are hoping to make this issue accessible, transparent, and enjoyable to a wide variety of interests and academic disciplines. With this goal in mind we have sought out multiple kinds of approaches to the bioethics discussion, including academic papers, opinion pieces, and art that relates to bioethical topics. In the spirit of appealing to multiple interests, we are introducing an opinion section which asks writers to respond to a bioethical question that has been chosen by our editorial board. Part of our purpose in broadening the type of submission we will accept is to acknowledge the variety of ways in which people wrestle with bioethical topics, many of which can be emotionally difficult to discuss. In recognizing this, we hope this will make Volume 3, Issue 1 more accessible.
