Abstract
Mindful design of learning spaces can provide an avenue for supporting student engagement in STEM subjects. Thoughtful planning and wide participation in the design process were key in shaping new and renovated spaces for the STEM community at the University of Puget Sound. The finished project incorporated Puget Sound's mission and goals as well as attention to pedagogical principles, and led to connections and integration throughout the learning environment, specifically at the biochemistry and molecular life sciences intersections. © 2013 by The International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 41(5):319–324, 2013
