Abstract
This article examines examples of the relationship between martial masculinity and religious devotion during the Middle Ages. During this era monks were often warriors as well and frequently referred as 'soldiers for Christ.' In particular, the wearing of armor was considering an aspect of monk's devotional asceticism.
