Abstract

A workshop designed to provide teachers at all levels with strategies to eliminate the gaps in their classrooms. Jones focuses on the need for educators to have sufficient cultural competence to recognize the disadvantages of some students and to bridge the opportunity gap. She indicates what data teachers must consider when planning, how to construct culturally and linguistically relevant lessons, and how to connect students to the support they need to be successful.
